See All ReviewsI drove to Strawn specifically because of Mary's Cafe. It was packed!!! My Chicken Fried Chicken was super thin and very disappointing. I had to wait a long time to finally get the gravy that was supposed to accompany it. Without the gravy, I doubt I would be able to eat it. The man at the table next to me ordered the Texas Size Burger and I swear it was the thickest burger I've ever seen, and so was our bill.....If you don't like the sides that come with your meal and you order something else that you like, (Green Beans) be sure to let them know the size you want or they'll bring a huge bowl that costs more than 5 bucks!!!
Great home-cooked comfort food and wide selection of entrees. Can be busy but that makes it more fun. The chocolate Meringue pie is like my grandma's and the best I've had in years. Definitely a good place to stop on the way the Palo Pinto Mountains State Park! No pics cause we ate everything so fast!
Hello chicken fried steak! Fantastic. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:30 AM and only had about a 20-minute wait for a table for two, which felt very reasonable. The chicken fried steak was the star — tender, thin in the best possible way, and perfectly cooked. The gravy was delicious too. Bonus surprise: they had lots of shirts, and I had to grab a souvenir to remember the visit. Definitely worth the stop!
